In March 2012, the Newcastle City Business Centre was launched as a Serviced Offices and Meeting Rooms facility. It is situated in an iconic sandstone heritage building which incorporates some long established Newcastle businesses. It was designed in 1920 by the well known architects , Kent and Massie who were responsible for numerous grand buildings throughout New South Wales.
They were commissioned by the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney (CBC Bank) to build the present building on the Corner of Hunter and Bolton Streets and also the grand CBC Bank building in Martin Place Sydney.
Prior to the launch in March 2012, the building was renovated keeping the heritage look and feel, while including modern technology such as 200/200 mbps high speed fibre optic internet and security cameras.
The CBC building is opposite the grand old former Newcastle Post Office, surrounded by other heritage buildings and right in the heart of the Newcastle CBD. The Family Court House is in the adjoining block, there is a free city bus service and the Bolton Street carpark is within 100 metres. There are 30 cafes, restaurants and coffee shops within two blocks and the beach and harbour are both within walking distance.
